Frequently Asked Questions

Everything You Need to Know Before We Start

The best time to start is the moment they come home. We offer the Imperator Puppy Program specifically for puppies under 6 months to set the foundation. However, it is never too late to start. Whether your dog is 6 months or 6 years old, we can implement a system that works for them.

We bring 15 years of experience and professional-grade standards to the family home, but our foundation is a deep love and respect for dogs. We believe our dogs are our best friends and family; they deserve a lifestyle of clarity, not confusion.

Unlike standard obedience classes, we focus on Urban Neutrality ensuring your dog is calm and confident in the real world. By combining elite performance standards with a welfare-first approach, we help your dog live their freest, most balanced life by your side.

We are balanced trainers who prioritise clarity and the individual needs of each dog. While our systems are rooted in professional-grade structure, we believe in training the dog in front of us.

Whether it’s a high-drive working breed or a sensitive rescue, we adjust our approach to ensure the highest level of welfare and success. For some dogs, this means a heavy focus on positive reinforcement to build confidence; for others, it means providing the clear boundaries they need to feel secure. Our goal is always a balanced, happy dog who understands their world.

Absolutely. While we work with your dog, my goal is to empower you. For the training to be successful long-term, you need to understand the "how" and "why" behind the techniques. Our dogs are our best friends and family, and the strongest results come from a consistent relationship between the owner and the dog.

We are a welfare first organisation. Tools are chosen based on the individual dog’s temperament, the owner's capability, and the specific goals of the program. During your Initial Consultation, we will discuss the most effective and ethical approach for your dog to ensure they are learning in a high-clarity, low-stress environment.

Yes. We specialise in complex behavioural cases through our 10-session and 15-session Programs. The length of the program is determined by the severity of the case and the specific goals we need to achieve. Because these cases require a high level of handler commitment, we require an initial suitability assessment to ensure both the dog and the owner are prepared for the journey toward long-term stability

Urban Neutrality is the ability of a dog to remain calm and focused on their owner regardless of what is happening around them whether it's heavy traffic, other dogs, or loud noises. This is a standard we bring from professional K9 work into the family home to ensure your dog can go anywhere with you safely.

Yes. At Imperator Dogs, we believe in supporting those who serve and our broader community. We offer discounted rates for:

  • Seniors
  • People with a Disability
  • Concession Card Holders
  • Service Members: Both active and retired men and women of the armed forces and emergency services.

To receive these rates, valid proof of status (such as a Service ID, Senior’s Card, NDIS/Disability Support Pension documentation, or Concession Card) must be provided during your initial consultation.

All of our training begins with an Initial Consultation. This allows me to see your dog in their real-world environment and provide you with a tailored framework before we move into a multi-session program.
